Opening Magic Lights at Grünberg

Hundreds of guests marvelled at the new light installation on the Grünberg in Gmunden on the very first weekend. This is according to Maria Marcova, Marketing Manager of the treetop walk Salzkammergut. ‘We are very pleased that so many guests have found their way to the Grünberg despite the rather wet and cold weather,’ she says. ’The high praise and the many amazed faces of our visitors make us very positive about the coming weeks and the success of our first winter season.’

With hundreds of thousands of soft lights and unique 3D figures, the Magic Lights are a real feast for the eyes and offers the perfect backdrop for souvenir photos. Gmunden's mayor Stefan Krapf, who was invited as a guest of honour, was also convinced of this: ‘This project is impressive and heart-warming, Advent and Christmas spirit at its best. I can only recommend everyone to enjoy the Magic Lights in Gmunden.’

In addition to him, town councillor Thomas Bergthaler and the partners of the Traunsee-Almtal Tourism Association, who have supported the Magic Lights with great commitment, also accepted the invitation to the opening.

Rupert Schiefer, CEO of Bergbahnen Dachstein Salzkammergut, was also among the guests of honour and was delighted with the implementation of the Magic Lights as a joint project for Gmunden and the Grünberg: ‘We are strengthening our motto “365 days for guests” with the Magic Lights on the Grünberg and are now also operating the summer cable car on the Grünberg in winter. A unique new offer for guests and an important further development of the company for us as Bergbahnen Dachstein Salzkammergut.’

Opening times and information about the Magic Lights

Until 12 January 2025, the Grünberg will be illuminated and visitors will be whisked away into a sparkling fairytale world. The experience is complemented by unique 3D animal figures that offer ideal photo opportunities. A punch stand and an atmospheric music programme create a pre-Christmas ambience.

The treetop walk is open during the Magic Lights from Thursday to Sunday, from 01:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Last admission is at 7:00 pm. During the Christmas holidays - with the exception of the Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve - visitors can even immerse themselves in the magical world of lights every day. The Grünbergalm is also open during the Magic Lights.

Convenient ascent with the Grünberg mountain railway

The Grünberg cable car takes guests comfortably up the mountain and back down to the valley between 12:30 pm and 08:30 pm during the opening hours of the Magic of Lights.
